PASTOR’S POSTING: June Update

We are just a couple of days away from beginning a new month, and we are going out on a high note.  This past Saturday evening, we hosted the Bradford family in concert at Charrette.  It was an amazing evening as they shared their musical talents through song and instrumental arrangements.  On Sunday, we will take time on this Memorial Day weekend to honor our recent high school and college graduates.  It has been a very challenging year for students and we want to take the time to honor their amazing accomplishment in the face of extraordinary circumstances.

There are evidences that Charrette is getting back to some version of normality.  If you haven’t noticed, we are now providing Sunday School classes for adults, youth, children, and preschoolers.  We hope to have our multiple class options for adults back soon.  And starting in June, we will be having a church-wide lunch on leadership Sunday’s.  This month, the leadership team will have its monthly meeting on June 13.  On that Sunday, we will also have a church-wide meal following the morning service – as has been the case prior to COVID-19.  We will look to pick up where we left off.

Normal is a good thing.  Though we may strive to get back to some aspect of “normalcy” in our lives post COVID, I want to challenge each of us to not settle for normal.  We are not living in normal days anymore.  And as such, we are pressed even more to share the gospel and the love of Jesus to those around us each and every day.  As a church, we are planning to reconnect with our community of Marthasville on August 14.  On that day, we will be conducting a one-day VBS/Back-to-School event at the city park.  I will be reaching out to our local Warren County food panty and the Marthasville Fire Department to pool our resources to help families and kids receive the school supplies, food, and cleaning supplies they need as the new school year approaches.  You can play a huge part in this event by being a volunteer in the event (details of that to be coming) as well as helping to provide needed school supplies, food, and cleaning supplies.  We’ve recieved 72 FREE backpacks from the North American Mission Board that we will be giving away filled with these supplies.  Normal is good, be we can do better than normal.  We can do amazing – and you can be a part of it, too!
